Babcia's Stamps
A mini site I created to catalog my grandmother's stamp collection. The stamps are mostly Polish – many used, but some not – collected over her lifetime. Some still had envelope and postcard remnants attached, addressed to my grandparents. Discovering this collection made me realize where I get my collecting and curation tendencies from and I wanted to appreciate her collection in a way that I hope she would find fun.

The Not-So-Scientific Process
Photographing with a Penny for Scale
I photographed each stamp individually on a dark background with a penny for scale. The pennies provided a consistent reference point for accurately scaling each stamp to its actual proportions.
Background Removal & Scaling
After photographing, each stamp had its background removed. Using the penny as a reference, stamps were scaled up or down so they display at accurate proportions relative to one another.
Final Catalog
The cleaned and properly scaled stamps were cataloged and numbered for the site.
